Our message to the citizens of Beirut
The Norwegian Union of Social Educators and Social Workers (FO) would like to extend their condolences to the citizens of Beirut. Our thoughts go to all those affected by this horrible incident.
As if this wasn’t enough there’s a rise in people infected with COVID-19, and the situation is not under control. Social workers in Lebanon responded quickly and social work is essential in the process of building up communities after catastrophes – but global support is crucial.
We urge all to contact their governments and ensure that Lebanon receives the humanitarian aid it needs. In addition, FO has given NOK 30.000 (one kroner for each member) to Norwegian Peoples’s Aid who is working in Beirut right now. We challenge our sister organizations to do the same.
